Scott Pruitt finally unmasks his position on climate change

Scott Pruitt takes off the gloves

Perhaps the dimmest man in US history to ever occupy the office of EPA chief finally reveals his position. How on earth its possible that a known petroleum industry purchase can get into this office is simply beyond me. Going to be interesting to watch how Scott Pruitt slowly deconstructs years of hard earned data and puts the US on track to the dark ages.

Trump to blame?

Trump or Trumpet was never the brightest spark to begin with and has openly stated that “climate change does not exist at all”, thus does it really surprise us that his selection complies with his ignorance. The question is why Trumpet holds this position at all? Could it be his stakes in a variety of multinational oil companies like Shell, Chevron and Exxon Mobil. Perhaps this extract from a report in Forbes may shed some light, ”

Trump has other financial interests in the pipeline. The Associated Press (AP) said that Trump’s most recent federal disclosure forms, filed in May, show he owned between $15,000 and $50,000 in stock in Energy Transfer Partners – down from between $500,000 and $1 million a year earlier.

Trump also holds between $100,000 and $250,000 in Phillips 66, which owns a 25% share of the Dakota Access Pipeline. Though these holdings are relatively small given his net worth of $3.7 billion, they do present a potential conflict of interest.”

Global responsibility and rights

The American people have the right to elect whomever they choose to whichever office they choose, but what happens when they elect such an idiot (Donald Trump) who puts in an even bigger idiot (Scott Pruitt) in such a key position? They are at present the world’s second largest polluter in terms of CO2 emissions so what happens now that they take the gloves off and just go wild? Surely then their rights on selection start to infringe on the rest of the globes rights? Already we can see China (currently the largest emitter) taking massive steps to curbing their outputs. What happens when the US goes on the rampage in terms of emissions? Surely as a global community we should start considering legal sanctioning of the US government? Would they even respond or cooperate with such a sanction? My personal feeling is that should a case be brought against them it would surely go a long way towards bringing environmental sanity to the forefront of the world’s attention.
